I WANT TO ADOPT,WHERE DO I BEGIN?
To begin your adoption journey, please follow the steps below:
1. Complete the Adoption Application.
Complete the Adoption Application and send it to our office, along with a personal check or Money Order in the amount of $250,
made payable to Sunshine International Adoption Agency, as well as the following 4x 6 photos: two different, non-professional,
photographs of adoptive couple together, one photograph of the outside of the home, one photograph of other children in the
home and three interior photographs of the home. Please write your family’s name on the back of all photographs.
2. Submit an I-600A, “Petition to Classify Orphan as an Immediate Relative,” to your local USCIS office.
Submit a completed I-600A to your local USCIS office. The I-600A classifies an orphan who either is, or will be, adopted by a US
citizen as an immediate relative of the US citizen to allow the child to enter the US. An I-600A is filed by the US citizen who is
adopting the child. To print an I-600A and instructions, please see http://uscis.gov.
3. Begin the Home Study process.
If you are an Ohio family, please visit our Home Study page to find out more about starting your Home Study process.
4. Complete your Dossier.
Begin compiling the paperwork required for the country you choose to adopt from. Please note that some of the documents
required for your Dossier may also be required for your Home Study. All Dossier Documents must be Notarized, Certified (if
applicable), Apostilled and in some cases legalized by the country specific Embassy in Washington, DC or New York. Once we
receive your Adoption Services Agreement we will forward a Dossier Packet.
